Abstract
This dissertation explores an artistic and art-educational project grounded in the
collaborative art practice of a person with autism and an art pedagogue. The majority
of the collected material and most of the theoretical conversations focus on studying
the complexity of the encounters between the researcher and research partner
Thomas, an adult man with autism. Often, working with people with disabilities is
understood as something different or ‘special’, as ‘special education’, and therefore
rather exclusive and separate from other pedagogical situations …
